Jim & Emma Jimson use wood & clay to make distinctive everyday objects for the home. We strive to design & create works that are of exceptional quality, beauty and value. Function comes first, followed closely by form. We hope our creations will become treasured family heirlooms.
The transformative nature of our chosen mediums can turn the most humble material into the most precious of objects. To take a rough sawn plank and work it to reveal an almost three dimensional grain is a delight. To take a bucket of mud and work it to reveal a translucence and ping is a joy. "The beauty of an object springs from the beauty of the process by which it was created." (unknown author)
Jim is a UK trained Carpenter and a self taught fine furniture maker. Emma has a degree in Ceramic Design and has worked as a Ceramics conservator for the past 12 years. "Working hard for something we don't care about is called stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion" (anonymous) We really are living the dream!
We loved the sound of Pomegranate but it seems that many others did too. Adding the hyphens not only opened up the registry but suited us even more. Jim hails from Norfolk in the UK, the 'Pom'. Em becomes the 'me', & we live among the granite hills our region is known for. Sold.
The family farm & studios are in Pastoria East in Central Victoria, Australia. Together with Emma's folks, they farm a small plot of lavender & keep bees.
